Batey boys batter Feniton in Corrie Cup semi

UPLYME beat Honiton by 36 runs to earn their ticket to the Corinthian Cup final and a date with Ipplepen at Plymstock on August 3.

Mark Batey clubbed 51 as Uplyme recovered from being 20 for three during an 80-run stand with Tyler Wellman.

Skipper Steve Batey (left) thumped the last over for 30 – three sixes, three fours – on his way to 48 not out from 15 balls in a total of 183 for six.

Feniton were all out for 137 in reply, but for some time were up with the run rate thanks to Alex Frankpitt hitting 47.

Steve Batey (3-18) got the brake on, aided an abetted  by Nick Dinnison with two for 20.

 

IPPLEPEN are on the way to the Corinthian Cup final for the first time since 1995 after dispatching Plymstock in the last four.

The Pens won the cup in 1995 and have not got past semi-finals since.

Having already beaten Ivybridge – Sam deFriend (51) and Jack Lewis (42no) featuring in a seven-wicket win – Plymstock were seen off by 75 runs.

Joe Abbott (49), Matt Nicholls (33), Sam Wakeham (31) and Matt Quartley (25no) were the leading scorers in a hefty total of 187 for six.

Plymstock were 112 for eight when time ran out.

There were wickets for Keith Wakeham (3-21), Paul Thomas (2-20) and Steve Bowden 2-37) by 75 runs.
