Sidmouth clinch double

NEIL Hancock clobbered an unbeaten century as Sidmouth completed the double by beating Plymouth by 46 runs in yesterday’s Tony Pryce Sports Devon Cup final at Sandford.

The Francis Clark Devon League Premier title was bagged three weeks ago and all Saturday’s nine-wicket win over Bradninch achieved was to give Sidmouth a record points tally of 293 for the season.

With Devon one-day specialist Hancock at his brutal best, Sidmouth clocked up 229 for six in their 40 overs.
Hancock slammed 11 fours and three sixes, two in the last over bowled by Steve Marks, and finished undefeated on 112. Anthony Griffiths chipped in with 55.

Plymouth were all out for 183 in reply, although the outcome hadn’t been in doubt for a while. The game got away from Plymouth during the time it took the to slip from 143 for three to 148 for six.

Jack Little top scored with 48 for Plymouth. He was one of four wickets collected by Nick Gingell, who was pressed into service to bowl a few overs as Josh Bess was struggling due to injury.
