Luffman and Pyle steer Dumplings to victory

A DEVON Dumplings’ side with a strong contingent of players from Heathcoat and Plymouth defeated the Old Blundellians by nine wickets in the annual fixture at the school.

Dumplings Andy Mead (3-14) struck in his first over and together with Sam Stein, made scoring difficult for the OBs early in the innings.

Old Blundellian Sam Smith was unlucky to see the ball roll on to his stumps but wickets continued to fall thanks to more good bowling from Abbotskerswell pair Noah Tobias (2-50) and Chris Kelmere (3-24).

Runs from Ed Sharp, Andrew Longstreet and Chris Harding (25no) helped take the OB’s score to 125.

The Dumplings lost Keith Barlow early in their reply, but Jake Luffman (67no) and Richard Pyle (43no) played exceptionally well to reach the target in 20 overs.
