Skeemer back in for Cornwood

CORNWOOD, at home to Exeter, are without skipper Jason Hall due to a charity commitment. In his absence, Jackson Thompson will captain the team.

Seventeen year old prospect Matthew Skeemer returns to fill the all-rounder position, vacated by Hall.

After suffering a heavy defeat last week against Torquay, Cornwood will be looking for a big improvement particularly in the batting department, where the real problem has been building partnerships and seeing off the strike bowlers.

“With the half way point fast approaching, we know we need to start picking up points to ease away from the relegation positions, but there is no need for panic at this stage,” said chairman of selectors Nick Goodliffe.

“We are confident in the players we have at our disposal to get us out of this hole and we have plenty of games to start turning the form book around.

“Last week’s comfortable win in the Devon Cup against Bradninch proves we have the capability to push on.

“Our players will be giving everything to secure a win against a strong Exeter team that is starting to find some rhythm.

“We know we have the players that can compete in all areas. We just need to get out there, make it happen and generate the inner belief needed to gather momentum.”
