Narracott Cup 2009 first round

FIRST ROUND

SIMON Tapley was back at the tiller for Ipplepen when they played Stoke Gabriel and steered the side to a 31-run win.

Current captain Keith Wakeham turned to his predecessor when he found he could not play in the match and it proved a shrewd move.

Tom Cooper clubbed 66 not out as the Pens racked up 154 for six.

Stoke big hitter Steve Tolley usually loves the challenge of midweek cup cricket, but was strangely subdued and finished on 38 not out in a reply of 123 for four.

Brixham proved too strong for Torquay in the rearranged Aaron Printers Narracott Cup tie.

Chris Lanyon smashed 38 and Mark Orchard and unbeaten 35 in Brixham’s 157 for four.

Nick Watkin (41) and Matt Thompson (37) gave Torquay an 80-run start, but without support they slowed to 125 for four.
