QUARTER-FINALS

BRIXHAM claimed the final place in the last four of the Aaron Printers Narracott Cup when they defeated Paignton by 24 runs at Queens Park.

Tim Robinson clubbed 58 and Richard Ward fired 45 as Brixham amassed 148 for four.

Paignton’s reply ran out of steam at 124 for six – Lee Upham (3-21) putting in a tidy spell to slow them down.

Dan North made 32 for Paignton, whose top scorer was 14-year-old all-rounder Ollie Higgs, whose 37 marked him down as one to watch in the future.

Brixham will face Bovey Tracey at Torquay in the semi-finals on June 29. The other semi-final is between Ipplepen and Dartington & Totnes at Paignton on Friday, June 25.

DARTINGTON & Totnes are on course for a semi-final showdown against near neighbours Ipplepen in the last four of the Aaron Printers Narracott Cup.

Darts worked their passage to the last four with a comfortable four-wicket win over Babbacombe.

Marcus Thompson made 50 not out, and Terry Farkins had 45, in Babbacombe’s 140 for three.

Ipplepen went through after a high-scoring engagement with Torquay, which they won by 14 runs.

The Pens clattered along to 192 for three with Dave Harris (65) and Sam de Friend leading the way with a first-wicket stand of 127 which occupied 15 of the 20 overs.

Torquay set off in hot pursuit, led by hard-hitting Matt Hickey and Josh Hunt.

Hickey thumped 81 and Hunt 41 in a stand of 113 for the third wicket.

After Hickey was caught on the boundary by Matt Quartley with 44 needed and five overs to go, Torquay slowed up.

Pens’ skipper Keith Wakeham had impressive bowling figures of three for 13 from four overs as Torquay ran out of overs at 178 for six.
