Hamza hammers 99 not out as Paignton rout Bovey in T20

PAIGNTON blew Bovey Tracey out of the water on their way to finals day in the Devon T20 competition.

Bovey Tracey made a respectable 166 for five in their 20 overs – led from the top by opener Lewis Hammett with a bright and breezy 79 off 61 balls, He hit 11 fours and two sixes. Pete Bradley made 25.

Pick of the bowlers was Rob Shergold (2-13)

Paignton raced to 74 for one in the first seven overs, then lost Peter Taylor for 31.

Zubyar Hamza (99no) and Richard Ashworth (29) had the rest knocked off with two over and nine wickets in hand.

North Devon won the Friday night regional final against Bideford at Braunton by 78 runs.

Neil Bettis made 71 and Max Curtis 37 in a North Devon tally of 164 for six.

Bideford were all out for 86  in reply, only James Ford (29) and Josh King (13) reaching double figures.

Already through to finals day at Exeter on Sunday, July 27 are Exmouth and Cornwood.
