Plympton make three changes for Abbots

PLYMPTON make three changes to the side that beat Bradninch for the trip to Abbotskerswell.

Batter Dave Wrench is unavailable so John Fish comes in for him.

Dan Hawker and Todd Rossouw, bowled extremely well against Bradninch,  but Ryan Skinner is fit and Craig Donohue back from a trip to York. Both regain their places.

“I am looking to hopefully continue on from last Saturday, which was an excellent win over team who will be up there at the end of the season,” said skipper James Carr, who led from the front in the  win over Bradninch.

Carr’s first contribution was to take two for 33 as a miserly bowling effort kept Bradninch to 129 for eight.

Then Carr made an unbeaten 29 to see Plympton turn a possible defeat into victory with two balls of the match remaining.

“It was one of those days when we had to knuckle down and grind it out,” said Carr.

“Bradninch found scoring hard – and at halfway we were going slower than they were.

“I just batted and thanks to a couple of important partnerships we got there in the last over.

“It might have been low scoring, but it was an exciting game.”

Dan Hardy top scored for Bradninch with 24 while Jack Horton, who used to play for Plympton, made 18.

Carr, Todd Rossouw on his debut and West Harslief all had two wickets each.

Ross Acton (4-28) posed plenty of problems for Plympton early on and at half way the home side were 56 for four.

Dan Robotham was still there though and with 13 overs to go was joined by his skipper.

Stands of 32 between Carr and Robotham (40) then 19 with Jamie Lee turned the game Plympton’s way.
