Premier 2nd XI - Tall impressed by lady player +++ Exeter denied
PREMIER leaders Exeter were comfortably on top when their game against Exmouth 2nd XI came to a rainy end.

Exmouth had been bowled out for 173 midway through the penultimate over by the triumvirate of Alvin Pollard (3-44), James Reddick (3-27) and Tchepo Legodi (3-51).

Mike Collinge made 48 for Exmouth, who slumped from 94 for two to 114 for six and were always in trouble after that.

Exeter were 157 for two with 21 overs to go when the match was abandoned. Alex Bosomworth made 70 not out, Marcus Hoddinott had made 23 in an opening stand of 61 and Legodi was not out on 32.

Phil Barraclough, Arren deYoung and James Fulner all made 60-plus as Bovey Tracey totted up 244 for four against Sidmouth.

Luke Bess top scored with 58 for Sidmouth, who were 150 for three when it rained. Mark Gribble took all three wickets to fall.

Paignton were in a commanding position against Tavistock when they were forced to call it a day.

Peter Taylor top scored with 74 – he and Simon Mantell (55) hoisted 102 for the second wicket – and with Dan North (34) and Calum Stanley (36) chipping in they made 297 for eight.

Three wickets for Terry Farkins (3-57) and two for Stanley (2-19) had Tavvy wobbling at 160 for seven.

Plymouth were chasing well against North Devon 2nd XI at Mount Wise when their game was called off.

A stand of 129 between McAuley Harrison-Hooton (59) and veteran Bob Heaman (49) helped North Devon reach 201 for five.

Rob Button (39no) and James Nichols (37no) were continuing the good work started by Henry Bennett (31) when Plymouth were forced off at 128 for three.

The game between Cornwood and Plympton also came to a watery end, but not before one young cricketer made a big impression.

Top scorer for Plympton in their total of 137 for one was lady cricketer Amara Carr, who made 74 not out.

Carr, who is part of the England Ladies Development squad, clearly impressed Cornwood 2nd XI captain and former Devon all-rounder Dave Tall.

“It was a fine knock from a very accomplished cricketer,” said Tall.

When Cornwood batted in the first innings, Ben Warren made 70 and Matt Skeemer 64 in a total of 272 for five.
