ABBOTSKERSWELL will face Chudleigh at Kate Brook this Sunday in the South Devon League Cup final after beating Lustleigh by 60 runs,

Abbots - with eight players under the age of 18 plus the uber-experienced Andy Rose -  slumped to 28 for five after electing to bat first.

Thanks to Hugo Whitlock, Karl and Matt Beassant and 13 year old Elliott Adams, they recovered to post 182 for eight.

Never normally enough at the picturesque Lustleigh ground, Abbots couldn't have wished for a better start when ex-Abbot James Fulner went first ball of the reply, tentatively pushing at one from young Whitlock.

Mike Sessions followed two balls later before the Wright brothers added 70 for the third wicket.

The return of Whitlockbroke the partnership and he followed up by bowling Duncan Manners-Chapman first ball.

Toby Codd, the team’s 15-year-old captain, then mopped up the final six wickets to see his team home.

Chudleigh were 74 run winners over South Plymouth in a high-scoring affair at Kate Brook.

After Rob Clarke (19) and Mark Solway (38) gave Chudleigh a 56-run start, Jack Vittles and Sachintha Galhenage ran riot.

Galhenage slammed 15 fours and five sixes on the way to 149 off just 79 balls in a stand of 110 for the fourth wicket.

Vittles with 50 off 40 balls wit six boundaries was positively pedestrian in comparison!

Chudleigh amassed 292 all out in the last of their 40 overs, which always looked a tall order for South Plymouth after they were reduced to 95 for six in reply after 13 overs – Ben Hulland taking five of the wickets to fall.

Some lower order bat swinging and a generous helping on 49 extras got South Plymouth to 218 all out.
