   DEVON SENIORS CRICKET CLUB

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & ANNUAL DINNER

 The Devon Seniors Cricket Club held it’s Annual General Meeting and Annual Dinner at the Dartmoor Lodge Hotel, Ashburton on Saturday 13 November.

 The AGM, was held before the Dinner at which the Secretary Stuart Lott and Treasurer Stuart Munday presented their respective reports.

 The following members were elected as officers of the Club:

 President: David Gambie.

Chairman: Chris Theedom.

Secretary: Stuart Lott.

Treasurer: Stuart Munday.

Fixture Secretary: Michael Hunt.

Player’s Representative: Francis Pyle.

Over 50s Captain: Nigel Mountford.

Over 60s Captain: Tom Stanton.

Club Side Captain: David Amery.

 After the AGM, members and their guests sat down for the Annual Dinner. An excellent meal was enjoyed by all.

The President David Gambie thanked Mr Keith White of “Michael Spiers Jewellers” for his sponsorship of the Club. David also thanked Stuart Munday for making the arrangements for the Dinner. David thanked the Umpires, Scorers, Committee members for all their efforts in 2010.

Finally David thanked Mr Steve Ripley for his efforts both as a player and as Chairman and presented him with a glass tankard in recognition of all his efforts. Steve had decided to not seek re-election as Chairman.

 2010 Over 50s Captain, Mike Canning gave a report of a disappointing Championship season in which the only successes had been against Cornwall & The Isle of Wight. Mike felt his own form had suffered as a result of the pressures of captain and had already indicated he would not be standing for the captaincy in 2011. Mike thanked all the players for their support, the umpires who had stood in all the matches and to Chris Dove who had done an excellent job as scorer. Mike presented the ‘Player of the Year’ trophy to Roger Wensley (Exmouth) who had performed well with the bat in his debut season. 5 Innings, 2 not outs, 249 runs, Highest Score: 77n.o. Average: 83.00

Over 60s Captain, Tom Stanton was not present, and in his absence Mike Canning read out a report. The Over 60s had won all of their group matches, unfortunately defeat had followed in the first round of the knock out stage. The Captain thanked everyone for their efforts especially Geoff Coish for scoring and asked for the ‘Player of the Year’ to be presented to Peter Rose (Shobrooke Park) for his efforts with bat and ball.

Finally Club Side Captain David Amery presented Di Wadsworth with a bouquet  of flowers for scoring in the matches David had skippered. David thanked the players for making themselves available and presented the Club Player of the Year award to Julian Page (Exmouth) for his 122 runs against Dorset at Kilmington.
